This week in class the kids are learning the trickiest Eastern European (Bulgarian) Additive Rhythms. Now that we’re masters, we can most certainly count along with this video of The Great Voices of Bulgaria singing the classic pepper-picking song, “Dilmano Dilbero.” Go ahead, try it! How many beats are there in a phrase? Where do the phrases start and end? We could divulge the secret and point you to some sheet music online, but we don’t want to ruin the fun.
