All Around This World’s East and Southeast Asian songs for kids introduce your family to Asian cultures through interactive fun . . .
All Around This World’s East and Southeast Asia season of classes includes songs all over the region, from far Eastern Siberia where the Chukchi sing in praise of the beauty of life to Indonesia where funky Hindustani/Malay/Arabic-inspired dangdut bands sing about love.
In class we travel from Laos, where inspired vocalists improvise bawdy but timely tales, to Japan where children flee an imaginary cucumber-eating, sumo-wrestling pond monster. From the Philippines where a song secretly inspired independence to China where we find peace on a rolling hillside picking tea.
Meet All Around This World’s East and Southeast Asian songs, including Chinese songs for kids:
Achim Baram | Arirang | Ashibinaa | Chit Tae Shan Yoe Ma | Flowers | Gili Gio | Grains of Sand | Hai Hoa | I Am Looking for a Friend | I Look Up When I Walk | I’m Shy | Kappa Boogie Woogie | Let’s Write a Song | Life is Like a Garden | Little Pond | My Dear Mama | My Rickshaw | Oh Potatoes! | Poong Paang | Sada Do | Sarika Keo | Sitsiritsit | Sweetest Darling | The Tea Plantation | Ti Oh Oh
We’re planning to record too many songs for the All Around This World East and Southeast Asia CD project to fit onto one CD, so we’re separating them into two–one disc composed of songs from East Asia (China, Japan, the Koreas, etc.), the others from Southeast (everywhere else).
