Update August 5, 2013

The cast of characters that ultimately is going to be involved in this CD is going to have be huge. To record over thirty songs in over thirty styles of African music is a bear of a task. Yes, we can put a few musicians on a handful of the tracks–a bassist and drummer experienced in many African styles, like Sean, can lay the groundwork for a few–but there are so many instruments and ways of playing them that are very specific to the country and culture that created them. We’re sharing musical duties when possible, but in most cases each of the 30 or more tracks on the All Around This World: Africa CD will have its own built-from-scratch set of musicians.

That means we need help! Between Amon’s co-conspirators in New York and friends of friends of friends in Philadelphia we have been able to fill most of our musical needs. But if you play Congolese Soukous guitar, let me know. Or if you sing in Malagasy . . . let’s talk. Do you play kora or own a calabash? Do I have a gig for you.
