Yippee for Yurts!

Yesterday we learned about a yurt, an ingenious Central Asian structure that gave nomadic people like the Kazakh and Uighur a chance at a sturdy, cozy on-the-move home. We end our week with the Uighurs by building a yurt of our own. True: the kids in our classes are tiny and are probably not going to Central Asia any time soon. True: we have no materials. True: we have about two minutes in the classroom to do this. Schmaltzy, but true: With an active imagination we can build anything!

See you next week when we meditate with the monks of Tibet.
