Eastern Europe and the Baltic States

All Around This World’s Eastern European songs for kids introduce your family to many cultures through interactive fun . . .

All Around This World’s Eastern European season of songs presents music from the region in all its bold and brassy complexity., from a Serbian song about the grandeur of snow to a Ukrainian homage to spring, from an asymmetrical Bulgarian song about peppers to a very symmetrical Lithuanian chant about about limes.

In classes we sing wedding songs from Estonia to Albania and beyond, imitate horns and accordions and heartfelt violins . . . we enjoy all the good stuff that draws on a thousand years of Eastern European hardship and hope, making us weep and at the same time as as we dance.

We’re planning to record so many great songs for the All Around This World: Eastern Europe and the Baltics CD project that we know they won’t all fit on one CD. Splitting our Eastern European songs for kids into two discs will give us a chance to focus Volume 1 on songs from the northern part of Eastern Europe (Russia, the Baltics, Hungary/Czech Republic, etc.) and a second volume on songs and fascinating rhythms from the Balkans, Romanian an Bulgaria.
