Burung Kakatua

COUNTRY: Indonesia, Malaysia
LANGUAGE: Indonesian, Malay

“Burung Kakatua” is a nonsensical children’s song. (Soo many children’s songs are.) In this one we sing about dear old gray-haired grandma who only has a couple teeth left. In the original she’s sitting near the window, perched like a cockatoo (kakatua). We shift it slightly so her buddy, the cockatoo, is befuddled by her toothlessness, but we don’t claim to add meaning either way.
