The most grandiose, goopily glorious song competition in the world is surely Europe’s annual Eurovision Song Contest.
Each year up to 50 countries send representatives to sing and dance their hearts out, competing boldly against their European neighbors, oozing national pride (and sometimes glitter). We could celebrate so so so many Eurovision winners — we’ll visit with some in the course of our upcoming season — but we must start here, with Lordi, who brought home the grand prize in 2006 for Finland.
