Want to make beautiful music? Grab a jug! A great jug player can make a simple glass or stoneware jug sound like any number of instruments — a trombone, a saxophone, or, with a little lip-buzzing, a didgeridoo. A “jug band” is a down-home ensemble, usually a group of musicians whose instruments come from their living rooms and backyard sheds. The earlist jug bands started in cities in the American south like Louisville and Memphis and featured African-American musicians performing ragtime, blues and jazz. They made American music that had heart, soul, and lots of cool stuff from the kitchen cabinet. In this video we jug it up for eight minutes with this fellow.
