For the last post of our “Everything is a Drum” Eastern Europe week let’s learn about “Lad’s Dancing,” a genre of Romanian folk dance traditionally reserved for groups of men. “Lads” of all ages dance at birthday parties, weddings and community celebrations. The dances are acrobatic, the rhythms are befuddling, and, as this UNESCO video shows us, the costumes are the best. Next week we visit East and Southeast Asia where we yell as we drum. Let’s go!
