WELCOME TO ALL AROUND THIS WORLD

I am Jay Sand, music teacher from Philadelphia whose global music program, All Around This World introduces children and their families to the incredible diversity of the world using international song, dancing and movement. I'm writing to propose a collaboration with your preschool, daycare, library or NGO/non-profit organization that will provide options for your families to access hundreds of my family-friendly multicultural songs and cultural experiences in a wide range of ways, from experiencing live classes online, to having unlimited access to an extensive database of multimedia lessons, to, ultimately, enjoying group music-making experiences in person. The program is flexible, will fit your budget -- even if you don't have one -- and can grow along with your programming needs. I teach class in English, but each song features simple lyrics -- usually some words in English, the rest in the song's original language -- that kids who speak any language can sing right away. Any child from any country will absolutely clap, pat, sway and dance along.

I am reaching out to propose programming that can become an indispensable to your school, library or community organization as it strives to provide your community with high quality experiences that open minds. I'm especially honored to be able to provide content to your families that confronts racism, teaching tolerance by engaging kids in a positive, humanity-connecting, exploration of the world.

You will be able to choose one or more of the following options:

1) Weekly livecast classes.

2) An always-accessible online database.

3) When the time is right, "real world" programming..

LIVECAST CLASSES

Since the middle of March 2020 I have been teaching all my classes online, with some families "coming to class" using Zoom and others watching on Facebook Live. My live online classes are about 40 minutes long and are truly a treat. Each class offers songs in several languages and features a country or musical theme that gives kids a way to "travel the world."

I can provide your preschool, daycare, library or non-profit with a live class each week, which I could crosspost from my Facebook page to yours. I could also invite your families to participate directly by joining the class in Zoom. Starting in September 2021 I am planning to teach live classes on Thursday, offering enough options to fill your needs no matter where you are in the world.

EXPLORE EVERYWHERE

The content of All Around This World's database of courses, called "Explore Everywhere" consists of over 300 songs and cultural experiences that originate from more than 100 countries. The database offers of twelve distinct sets of material, each featuring music from a particular region of the world (Africa, Eastern Europe, South Asia, etc.). The content of the courses in the database directly complements that of my live classes.

I would be able to provide your library with a login you could use to make the resource available to any of your families in whatever way you choose. Families could explore the world musically through the database at their own pace, or use it to provide context for the songs we sing in the weekly livecasts.

MUSICAL STORYTIMES

When your school, library or organization can safely program in person you can welcome students to enjoy the live class together in your activities space -- a weekly All Around This World "Musical Storytime." You will project my live class on a screen or watch together on the computer, singing and dancing as you learn, your families sharing a dynamic moment as we meet the world.

You could choose to join me "in the room" on Zoom, or I can crosspost the class to your Facebook page and you can enjoy it that way.

All Around This World Musical Storytimes would require no extra training -- a staff member would set up the projector or turn on the computer to watch the class, but I would take it from there.

EVEN MORE FUN: CONNECTING KIDS WORLDWIDE

A distinct advantage of offering programming online is that children anywhere can experience the program and learn the same songs at the same time. I am promoting my live classes to schools, libraries and community groups around the world. So far I've received interest from schools in several countries-- Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cambodia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Laos, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, The Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Spain, South Africa, Tanzania, Turkey.....

I very much look forward to to connecting kids and their families to one another across the continents by inviting them to participate in projects such as video collaborations or music sharing, and seeding other forms of collaborative learning. As we all get to know each other, I also plan to provide options for families to meet families across the continents, becoming not just "pen pals," but partners in global exploration. AWESOME!

PRICING

The good news is that my pricing is flexible. If you have no budget for the foreseeable future, we can start by my sharing my live online classes with your students free or at a cost you can currently afford and build our relationship from there. I can easily crosspost my live classes to your facebook page, or your students can join in Zoom.

At the same time I could also offer you free or low cost access to the Explore Everywhere database. Each participating organization could have a login that would open the database for your patrons on your local computers, and/or I would be able to share a special code with your families for access at home.

After that we could develop pricing that is specific to your resources as we go along, based upon your customary pricing for programming. If that feels too uncertain, and you would like to begin our relationship with a written plan, we could communicate up front to make educated guesses and start laying the groundwork for the future. I know that each organized entity has its own budgeting realities. We can definitely can develop our pricing based upon your needs.
