In the United States few can ever claimed to have worked harder, and sang more more inspiring songs about working harder, than prison work crews in Texas, composed mainly of African-Americans, in the mid 20th century. Pete and Toshi Seeger and folklorist Bruce Jackson recorded these hard workers singing in a Texas prison in 1966.
