We end our week of “Everything is a Drum” classes with a literal bang. We focused on Japanese taiko drumming this week, but we certainly can’t forget other forms of East Asian percussion, like Korean pungmul drumming. Pungmul performances are full of banging drums, clanging cymbals and, more often than not, colorful performances in the town square. Like what you see in the video? Join in! Next week: rhythms from West Asia and the Middle East.
