In class this week we’re going to try the Chilean cueca — the “national dance” of Chile.
In the Chilean cueca a “rooster” courts a “chicken” by swirling a white kerchief and dancing in circles. In the traditional version the man portrays the rooster, the woman the chicken. If you’re dancing it alone in your kitchen, you can be the rooster. No chicken…? There’s no shame in dancing with your dog.
