Romanian is certainly the language of the land in Romania, but it not the only language you’ll hear there. Beside speakers of Romanian you’ll encounter Romani-speaking Roma, Russian-speaking Lipovans (ethnic Russians who immigrated to Romania in the 18th century after a schism within the Orthodox Church) and others who are just as comfortable talking Hungarian, Ukrainian and German.
