All Around This World’s exploration of Latin America includes sing-along, dance-along classroom and homeschool lessons about Brazil for kids . . . Meet the world through music –“come to class” with Jay.
Brazil! This week “All Around This World” lands squarely in the extraordinary nation of Brazil. Not only is Brazil Latin America’s geographically largest and most populous country, as well as Latin America’s only Portuguese-speaking country, it also boasts overwhelmingly exuberant culture. If you’ve ever been to Brazil you don’t need All Around This World to convince you that Brazil is awesome. If you’ve never been there…why wait?!?!?
START HERE:
— OVERVIEW: “Brazil’s political past is a checkered one, full of colonial battles, failed republics and military coups. Despite all these ups and downs — or maybe in part because of them — Brazilians have historically focused on the wealth and breadth of their culture as their main source of national pride . . .”
— MUSIC: “Like many musical styles of Latin America, Brazilian music is stirring blend of African, European and Amerindian melodies and rhythms. So, what makes Brazilian music so special . . . ?”
