A yurt is a sturdy, circular structure prevalent among traditional nomadic peoples of Central Asia like the Kazakh and Uighur of Western China. A yurt requires only sturdy, simple materials, can be built in two hours and is easy to dismantle, making it the nomad’s perfect home.
In class we build yurts with the most portable of all construction materials — our imaginations! (What, you thought I’d say finish nails?)
