Sakha/Yakutia

Sakha/Yakutia:
Located in the northeastern part of Russia, Sakha/Yakutia is the largest republic in the Federation, stretching over about 1/5 of Russia’s land. It’s also well as the coldest — winters temperatures in Verkhoyansk have been known to drop to almost negative 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Sakha/Yakutia used to be a very cold, very economically disadvantaged center of horse breeding and fur trading. It has since become a very cold but very lucrative center of Russian diamond, gold, silver, coal and natural gas mining.
