Jarana

The jarana is a guitar-like instrument played commonly in son jarocho ensembles in Veraczuz in southern Mexico. Jaranas often provide rhythmic accompaniment to the San Jarocho harp (“arpa jarocha”), which musicians play with a pick and use to make the melody.
