Lonely Planet’s entry on Honduras extols the virtues of the country’s beaches, bird-watching and, of course, its howler monkeys. (Who could say anything bad about howler monkeys?) Lonely Planet also notes that the country is in the midst of constant political, environmental, economic transformation, saying “Honduras today is a place of change, too fast for those who’d like the country to remain ‘undiscovered’, too slow for those frustrated by persistent remnants of the ‘Banana Republic’ days, whether in undue foreign influence or lax enforcement of environmental laws.” With all that said, should you go to Honduras? Almost 100% of backpackers surveyed say yes!
