Four String Banjo

The four string banjo is a cousin of the more common five or six-stringed banjo that originated in Africa but has become popular in American bluegrass music. It became popular in samba music and its subsequent subgenres when musicians sought a stringed instrument that was loud enough to be heard above all the awesome percussion.
